5 Singapore Companies Listed on Major Sustainability Index by Dow Jones

Five Singapore companies have been listed on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) 2019 Asia Pacific, and two are on the World list, which benchmarks sustainable business practices for investors. DJSI are indices that measure the sustainability performance of thousands of public companies, provided by S&P Dow Jones Indices (S&P DJI), one of the world’s leading index providers, and SAM, the business unit within RobecoSAM, which specializes in providing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) data, ratings, and benchmarking. The firms recognised on the DJSI Asia Pacific index included DBS Group Holdings, Sembcorp Industries, ComfortDelGro, CapitaLand and City Developments, while the latter two were alsolisted on the World index. CapitaLand, which incorporated sustainability initiatives into its developments such as Raffles City Changning in Shanghai, has been is on the index for 11 years. In a statement, CapitaLand said that it aims to achieve 100 per cent green certification of its global portfolio by 2030 and reduce its energy usage, water consumption and carbon emissions.
