The GBP11.7tn (EUR13.8tn) UK Investor Group 30% Club is Extending Its Ethnic Minority Representation Engagement to the FTSE 250

In March this year, the 30% Club warned the FTSE 100 companies that its signatories may vote against the re-election of board directors should they fail to improve their ethnic minority representation. The call to action echoes the government-backed Parker Review from 2017, which set a target for all FTSE 100 companies to have at least one director from an ethnic minority background by 2021. As of March, less than 10 of the FTSE 100 companies were lagging behind the target, according to Therese Kieve, head of the 30% Club’s race equity workstream. Following the success of the initial campaign, Kieve’s team is now expanding its focus to FTSE 250 companies – two years before the Parker Review’s equivalent target for the group.
