Denmark And The Netherlands To Partner On Carbon Capture And Storage

Denmark and the Netherlands have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on carbon capture and storage (CCS) and carbon transport, with a focus on the North Sea. The agreement allows the two countries to transfer carbon dioxide between them and store it in vacant oil and gas reservoirs within their exclusive economic zones (EEZ) in the North Sea. This partnership follows a similar agreement between Denmark, the Netherlands, and Belgium to cooperate on CCS. Both Denmark and the Netherlands are committed to expanding CCS as part of their efforts to achieve their climate goals and support the broader EU climate targets.
