The Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation has opened bidding for the fifth round of the large-scale solar programme (LSS5) to either 51 per cent Bumiputera or domestically-owned companies. LSS5 is split into four packages, totalling a quota of 2,000 megawatts (MW). The packages offered a combination of rooftop, ground, or floating solar power plants, ranging from permitted generation capacities between 1MW to 500MW. The Energy Commission said in a press statement that the power plants developed under LSS5 are scheduled to be operational in 2026.
