Indonesia Launches USD20bn Renewable Energy Investment Plan

Indonesia launched its Comprehensive Investment and Policy Plan (CIPP) as part of the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP), aiming to mobilize USD20bn in financing to accelerate its power sector decarbonization. The country seeks to cut CO2 emissions to 250 million metric tons for its on-grid power sector by 2030, with plans to increase the share of renewable energy to 44% by 2030. The CIPP outlines investments of USD97.3bn, with concerns raised about the significant reliance on commercial loans in the funding mix. The JETP, involving global lenders like the U.S. and Japan, is one of the largest initiatives of its kind.
