Malaysia Aims to Export Renewable Energy Once Supply is Stable

The Malaysian government plans to expand its green energy industry by exporting renewable energy only when the country’s supply is stable. Deputy minister of energy transition and public water transformation (PETRA) Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir said in Parliament that the government will prioritise using renewable energy domestically before exporting it. As plans for an energy exchange are being discussed, the ministry is targeting a 70 per cent renewable energy supply domestically by 2025.
