The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability (NRES) is in talks with various stakeholders to formulate a national policy on plastic production, use and waste that is in line with the Global Plastic Treaty 2022, NRES minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad said the enforcement of the treaty will lead to a drop in unnecessary plastic consumption. A recent Greenpeace survey showed that most Malaysians support government’s efforts to reduce plastic consumption.
