Sarawak Aims to Reduce Carbon Intensity by 45 Per Cent by 2030

The Sarawak government aims to reduce the state’s carbon intensity by 45 per cent by the year 2030, said Deputy Minister of Energy and Environmental Sustainability Datuk Hazland Abang Hipni. To achieve this, the state is establishing carbon pricing mechanisms, energy transition strategies, a digital carbon management platform, a carbon levy, the hydrogen economy, biofuels, offshore wind, and energy efficiency technologies. By protecting and enhancing the state’s natural capital, Sarawak aims to become a net carbon sink, said Hazland.
